C. W. ‘Buss’ Vaughan, Creston

C. W. ‘Buss’ Vaughan, 86, of Creston, died Aug. 20, 1994 at the Crest Haven Care Center in Creston. Funeral services are today, Wednesday, at 1 p.m. at the Keating-Lindsay Golden Rule Funeral Home in Creston. The Rev. Lyle V. Kuehl of the United Church of Christ in Creston will officiate with burial at the Earlham Cemetery.

He was born April 6, 1908 in Kanawha Station, West Va. to Irvin B. and Sarah (West) Vaughan. He married Lavonna ‘Bonnie’ Davis on Jan. 20, 1945 in Dexter. He moved to Earlham in 1935 and continued to live in the Madison and Adair counties until purchasing a farm north of Nevinville in 1950. He was a farmer and a trapper and was a member of the Circle Lodge 555, A.F. & A.M. in Prescott and a member of the Iowa Trappers Association.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Ocia Marie Kramer who died in April of 1938; three daughters; three grandchildren; one great grandchild; five brothers; and three sisters.

Surviving relatives include three daughters, Barbara Jean Zellweger and husband Wyman of Orient, Donna Lea Evans and husband Richard ‘Babe’ of Anchorage, Ala., and Patricia Ann Morris and husband Kenneth of Earlham; two sons, John Kramer Vaughan and friend Lois of Orient, and Milton Davis Vaughan and wife Donna of Winterset; nine grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Memorial contributions may be directed to the Crest Haven Care Center in Creston.
