John W. Cassady, Sr., well known resident of Crawford township for many years, died Sunday, Nov. 10, 1963, at Memorial hospital in Winterset. He was 83 years of age the day of his death.
Mr. Cassady had been an invalid since 1949, as result of injuries received then when thrown from a wagon. He suffered a stroke last August, and had been a patient at Memorial hospital for 11 days.
Mr. Cassady had lived in the Bevington community practically all his married life.
He is survived by his wife, the former Ella Quinn; two daughters, Mrs. George Dooley of Winterset and Mrs. Ed Bacon of Perry; a son John V. Cassady of Prole; seven grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs Kate Lickteig of Austin, Minn., Mrs. Rose Bell of Long Beach, Calif., and Mrs. Della Spain of Norwalk; and a brother, A. D. Cassady of Des Moines.
Rosary services were held Tuesday evening from the Caldwell-Brien Funeral home in Des Moines, followed by funeral services this Wednesday morning from Assumption Catholic church in Churchville. Burial was made in Calvary cemetery.
