LETHA JACKSON, Winterset

Letha R. Jackson, 84, of Winterset, died of cancer April 13, 1996 at the Winterset Care Center South. Funeral services were held April 16 at Collins Funeral Home in Winterset. Pastor Don Frank officiated the services and burial was at the Winterset Cemetery.

She was born in Madison County on May 4, 1911 to J. M. 'Roy' and Stella (Beem) Craven. She married Leroy Leachman in California in 1939. She later married Embree Jackson in 1953 at Winterset. She was a retired secretary for insurance businesses. She had been employed by Vierling Insurance & Ritter Insurance; worked at Falow's Cafe, and she was a seamstress until after the age of 80. She was a graduate of Winterset High School and had lived a large part of her life in Madison County. She was a member of the Pythian Sisters and the First United Methodist Church in Winterset.

She was preceded in death by her parents; both husbands; one brother, and one sister.

Surviving relatives include one daughter, Janice Bristow of Des Moines; one brother, Lester Craven and wife, Martha, also of Des Moines; and two grandchildren.
