Page 16Rosa Belle Stump, 96, who lived in the Van Meter area most of her life, died Tuesday, Oct. 7, at Winterset Care Center North, where she had spent the past seven years.
Born on May 8, 1884, in Van Meter, she was the daughter of Judson and Lulu French. She was united in marriage to Cleburgh "Dodd" Stump on Oct. 8, 1902. A member of the United Brethren Church, Mrs. Stump enjoyed gardening and quilting.
Survivors include her daughter, Doris Marquardt of Van Meter; three grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; a brother, Harry, of Des Moines; and a sister, Vinnie Schultz, also of Des Moines.
She was preceded in death by her husband Dodd; a son, Delbert; her parents; a brother, Bennie; a sister, Bertha; an infant granddaughter; and an infant great-great-grandson.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 10, at the Van Meter United Methodist Church with burial at the Thornton Cemetery.
