Forrest Chancey Black, Winterset

Forrest Chancey Black, 57, of Winterset, died of an aortic aneurysm Jan. 31, 1995 at the Iowa Lutheran Hospital in Des Moines. Funeral services were Feb. 3 at the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Winterset. Pastor Steven Koch officiated the ceremony with burial at the Winterset Cemetery.

He was born in Madison County on May 31, 1937 to Glenn and Mary (Miller) Black. He married Sharon Hohertz on June 12, 1960 in Fontanelle. He had spent most of his lifetime in Madison County. He was a retired rubber worker for Firestone Tire and Rubber Plant in Des Moines. He was a part-time farmer and had worked for Organic Technologies for the past six months. He was member of the St. Paul Lutheran church and had served in the U.S. Army during peacetime.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one grandchild.

Surviving relatives include his wife; three daughters, Shelley Lehman and husband Cory of Winterset, Lori Kern and husband Brad of Des Moines, and Julie Steenhoek and husband Wade of Des Moines; two sisters, Jackie Carey of Winterset and Rosemary Ham of Winterset; two brothers, Bill Strong of Colo., and Dick Strong of Texas; one step-sister, JoAnn Hohneke and husband Darvon of Indianola; step-father, Dale Gray of Indianola; and three grandchildren.
