Byron Garland of Winterset, a widely known farmer of this community, died Friday, Feb. 26, 1965, at Memorial hospital in Winterset. He was 77 years of age.
Mr. Garland had been a resident of Madison county more than 50 years. He was born in Jackson county Jan. 17, 1888, a son of Thomas L. and Eliza Jane Baldwin Garland. His active life was spent in farming
He was married Oct. 6, 1909, at Greenfield, to Sarah Iva Beaman, who survives him. He also leaves three childen, Mrs. Ilene Murrell of Winterset, Leslie E. Garland of Baldwin, Mo., and Mrs. Shirley Ford of Winterset; seven grandchildren; two great grandchildren; a brother, Herb Garland of Winterset; and three sisters, Mrs. Hazel Linn of Stuart, Mrs. Ada Lydon of Stuart, and Mrs. Sarah Byerly of Scranton.
Funeral services were held Monday from the Wilson Funeral home in Winterset, in charge of the Rev. William E. Bowles, pastor of the First Christian church.
Burial was made in the Winterset cemetery.
