Richard Stanley Grimes, (72), died October 3, 1993 in his home in Earlham. Services were October 6, 1993 at the Church of Christ in Earlham with the Reverend Ted Morelock officiating. Burial was at the Earlham Cemetery.
He was born March 20, 1921 to George and Mattie Grimes near Blue Ridge, Ill. He married Esther Maxine Frederick on July 21, 1945 and worked as a baker for many years and later as a maintenance mechanic.
He served as a marine in the South Pacific during World War II. He was a member of the Church of Christ, serving as a deacon and also serving on the building committee. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
He was preceded in death by his brother Morrison and an infant granddaughter.
He is survived by his wife; his three children, Sheryl Arnburg and husband Gary of Earlham, Richard Grimes and wife Nikki of Earlham and Beverly Wood of Omaha, Neb.; a sister, Mary Johnson of Tuscola, Ill.; his mother-in-law, Lela Frederick of Earlham and 12 grandchildren.
