Winterset, Iowa

We are called upon to record another accidental death. This time the deceased is Rans Perigo, the gentlemanly baggage master on our Branch Railroad. Last Monday morning while the passenger train was being made up, Mr. Perigo stood on the steps of the car. Swinging out to look at another car coming towards his, one of the posts which support the company coal bins, struck him on the back of his head.

He was knocked senseless to the ground, but soon rallied. He did not think himself much injured, but he died within twelve hours. He was evidently internally bruised in some part of the body. The deceased was a kind and good hearted man. And generally respected by all who knew him. He was a brother of the conductor, Mr. Ira Perigo. He leaves a wife and child. His remains were taken to Carlisle on Wednesday for burial.
