DEATH OF AUSTIN BRIDGES

Austin Bridges, pioneer resident of Madison county, died at his home in the Fairview neighborhood on Monday, October 8. He was 73 years old.

Mr. Bridges was born in Des Moines county, Iowa, on March 11, 1861, the son of Lawson and Melinda Bridges. At the age of seven he came with his parents to Madison county. Since that time, with the exception of one year spent in Washington, he has made this county his home.

On February 13, 1895, he was married to Henrietta Fry. They were the parents of six children, who survive him. They are John Bridges of Winterset, Mrs. Charles Bricker of Earlham, Charles Bridges of Milford, Iowa, Mrs. Theodore Clock of Muskegon, Michigan, Cecil Bridges of Earlham, and Mrs. Donald Rinard of Norwalk. He is also survived by two sisters, Mrs. Harriet Lucas of Des Moines, and Mrs. Will Croft of Bricelyn, Minnesota.

Funeral services were to be held today (Thursday) at 10:30 a.m. at the Fairview church, in charge of the Rev. W W. Bentzinger, of the Methodist church. Burial was to be made at Fairview.

AUSTIN BRIDGES DIES SUDDENLY

Pioneer Resident Stricken with Heart Attack Monday.

Austin Bridges of near Winterset died suddenly Monday evening. Though he had not been feeling well for some time he seemed as usual Monday. After he had eaten his supper he went into another room; his family heard a noise and on going into the room found him dead. It is thought that heart trouble caused his death.

He leaves his wife and Lawson Bridges of Winterset, Mrs. Charlie Bridges of Earlham, Mrs. Theodore Clark of Maskegon, Mich., Cecil Bridges of Winterset, Mrs. Alta Rhinard of Ft. Des Moines, and Charlie Bridges of Spencer.

Mr. Bridges was an uncle of Fred Hodson of Earlham.
