Richard Ira Kingery, 94, of Winterset died Oct. 14, 2005, at Madison County Memorial Hospital in Winterset.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, Oct. 18 at the First United Methodist Church in Winterset with Pastors Bobb Barrick and Bill Branson officiating. Burial was at Lorimor Cemetery.

Richard Kingery was born Sept. 27, 1911, in Madison County to Ira and Anna Catherine (Davis) Kingery. On June 9, 1937, he married Merle M. Berry at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. Richard had been an engineering technician for the Bureau of Reclamation with the United States Department of Interior. He spent the majority of his life in Madison County, having lived in Colorado from 1952-85. He was a member of the Modern Woodmen of America, National Society of Professional Engineers and the First United Methodist Church in Winterset.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Eugene Kingery; a sister, Ruth Thomas Kingery; and a grandson, Dennis McMennomy.

He is survived by his wife, Merle, of Winterset; two daughters, Shirley Ann Schmitz of Anselmo, Neb., and Rosemary Doerr of Winterset; a sister, Catherine Croft of Winterset; and three grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and nine step-great-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be directed to the First United Methodist Church, Winterset Care Center North or American Heart Association.

Funeral arrangements were handled by Collins Oak Park Chapel in Winterset.
