Obituary -- Mrs. Charles Thrift

Mary Delila Harrell, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. C. D. Harrell was born July 29, 1860 in Scott township, in Madison county, Iowa, and passed away at her home in Lincoln township, Sept. 8, 1913 at the age of 53 years, one month and nine days.

She was united in marriage to Charles Thrift, Dec. 26, 1880. To this union, four children were born, Blanche, Benton, Lela and Guy. Blanche preceeded her mother to the better land by a few short weeks. Besides her immediate family, she leaves to mourn her departure, four sisters and one brother: Mrs. Anna Rouzer, Omaha, Nebr.; Mrs. Emma Cox, Harlan, Iowa; Mrs. Florence Van Buskirk, Hastings, Nebr.; Mrs. Lida Klein and Lute Harrell of Winterset.

Mother wished to remain in this life to care for her family and home, but it being the Lord's will, she was willing and ready to go. Thus, after eight weeks of suffering, closes the life of a mother, who was devoted to her family and home, and her ambition was to make a cheerful and happy home for her husband and children.

Though Mother is gone, and the family ties are broken, her many deeds of kindness and patient suffering will ever be remembered by those who were near and dear to her.

Funeral services were held at the home Sept. 10th conducted by Rev. L. F. Davis, interment in the Rock City cemetery.
