Ellen M. McGuffin, who died at her home near Kasson August 3d, was born in Washington county, Penn., October 31, 1839. She united with the Presbyterian church when eighteen years of age, and has always been identified with God's people. She was married to E. B. McGuffin Dec. 20th, 1860, and removed to Iowa in 1868.

She was the mother of eight children, who with her husband were with her in her last hours on earth, and witnessed the power of Christian faith to strengthen the soul for its last long journey.
