Funeral services were held May 10 at Orlinger Chapel, Denver, Colo. for Walter Brittain, who died May 6 at his home in Denver.
Born in Madison County Jan 24, 1921, he was the son of Clarence and Mary Brittain.
On Sept. 29, 1956 he was married to Helen Ilene Derby in Las Vegas, Nev.
From Sept. 10, 1942 to Nov. 10, 1967 he was a member of the U.S. army, serving six years in Sweden, three years in Turkey, two years in Egypt, two years in Burma, and three years in Denmark. He was a member of Mile High Retired Officers Assn. at Fritzsimons Hospital, Denver, Colo. At the time of his death he was employed at Federal Reserve Bank, Denver, Colo.
He was preceded in death by his father.
He is survived by his wife, Helen; his mother, Mary Brittain of Winterset; two brothers, Joseph of De Soto and Eugene of Waukee; four sisters, Mrs. Paul (Ruth) Aldrich of Van Meter, Mrs. Earl (Evelyn) Hubbard of Van Meter, Mary Jane and Carol Brittain of Des Moines.
Dr. Charles Schuster officiated at the funeral service. Interment was at Fort Logan Military Cemetery.
