Ronald Neal Brittain, 63, of Winterset died Oct. 23, 2003 at his residence.
Funeral services were held Monday, Oct. 27, at the First Baptist Church in Winterset with Dr. John Shaull and Pastor Neal Hanley officiating. Burial was at North McDonald Cemetery, Jefferson Township, Madison County.
Ron Brittain was born Feb. 2, 1940, in Winterset to Alvin Conway and Clara M. (Anderson) Brittain. He was a 1958 graduate of Winterset High School. On March 1, 1959, he married Freda M. Gonseth in Earlham. Following her death, he later married Linda Long Smithson on Oct. 18, 2003, in Winterset. A lifetime resident of Winterset, Ron had been the owner and operator of Brittain's Furniture and Carpets for many years. He had been a member of the Winterset Saddle Club and Earlham Church of Christ.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Freda; a daughter, Pam Wagner; a sister, Marilyn Kile; and a half sister, Florine Brinkley.
He is survived by his wife, Linda Brittain of Winterset; a daughter, Christy Thornburg of Earlham; a stepdaughter, Dawn Cort of Des Moines; a stepson, Rob Smithson of Urbandale; a half brother, Andy Anderson of Oskaloosa; and five grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be directed to his family.
Funeral arrangements were handled by Collins Oak Park Chapel in Winterset.
