MRS. LEE COX DIED SATURDAY

Resident of Near Peru Succumbs at Age of 51 Years

Mrs. Lee Cox of Peru died at the Mercy hospital in Des Moines Saturday, Dec. 4 after a lingering illness of 18 years. She was 51 years of age.

Mrs. Cox was the former Nora Ellen Leach, daughter of William and Lurie Leach. She was born Dec. 2, 1897, and her early life was spent in this community.

She was married to Lee Cox on March 6, 1918. They were the parents of a daughter, Mildred.

She united with West Star Methodist church in 1911, transferring her membership to the Peru Methodist church on June 11, 1947.

In addition to her husband and daughter, she leaves a brother, Ray Leach of Winterset; and nine sisters, Mrs. Verna McNichols of Winterset, Mrs. Marie Carey of Ogden Utah, Mrs. Aletha Bussanmas of Bevington, Mrs. Ida Dawson of Nevada, Mrs. Wilda McManus and Mrs. Fern Miller of Des Moines, Mrs. Alberta Joyce of Chicago, and Mrs. Florence Cummings and Mrs. Georgia Kinney of Altoona.

Funeral services were held Tuesday from the Peru Methodist church in charge of the pastor, the Rev. J. D. Stevens. Burial was made in the Winterset cemetery.
