Services for Thomas Melroy, 83, were held Sat., Nov. 10, 1990 at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church in Davenport. He died Wed. Nov. 7, 1990, at St. Luke's Hospital in Davenport.
Born in Madison County, he graduated from Winterset High School and married Dorothy Gillespie in 1932 in Keokuk. Mr. Melroy retired in 1966 as an officer on the Davenport Police Department for 22 years. He was a member of the church; Knights of Columbus 532; Fourth Degree; Loras Assembly; Moose Lodge; Northpark Mall Walkers; Iowa State Police Associaton; Iowa Association of Chiefs of Police and Police Officers Inc.; a life member of the Legion and Fellowship of the Moose and a charter member of Halligan McCabe Pallbearer Club.
Survivors include his wife; daughters, Donna Segura of Rock Island, Rosalie Waight of Monticello and Karen Carr of Lincoln, Neb.; and sons, Francis and Michael, both of Davenport, John of Maquoketa and Gregory of Wenatchee, Wash. Also surviving are a sister, Sister Frances Marie Melroy of Davenport; brothers, Charles of Des Moines, John of Winterset and James of Denver, Colo.; 25 grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.
Burial was at Mount Calvary Cemetery, Davenport.
