Marvin Ernest Fairholm, 67, of Winterset, died from complications of an aneurysm July 16, 2004, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, July 20, at the First United Methodist Church in Winterset with Pastor Don Frank officiating. Burial was at Winterset Cemetery.
Marvin Fairholm was born Nov. 2, 1936, in Madison County to Edgar Verne and Florence (Brown) Fairholm. He was a 1954 graduate of Winterset High School. On Nov. 22, 1961, he married Marilyn Mitchell in Winterset. Marvin had worked for the Fareway Store in Winterset for 34 years before his retirement in May 2002. He also had worked for Bizz Mart United Grocery, IGA and, for six years, Pittsburgh Des Moines Steel. Since his retirement from Fareway, he had worked part time for Your Dollar Store with More in Greenfield. A lifetime resident of Winterset, Marvin enjoyed golf and his grandchildren. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church and Lakeview Country Club. He also served in the Iowa National Guard and was involved with the Boy Scouts of America for most of his life.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his wife, Marilyn, of Winterset; one son, Marty Fairholm and wife Kristin of Winterset; one daughter, Marilee Burk and husband Ken of Winterset; a brother, Richard Fairholm and wife Luella of Winterset; and four grandchildren-Kealah and Maddy Fairholm and Kaitlyn and Kylee Burk.
Memorial contributions may be directed to his family.
Funeral arrangements were handled by Collins Oak Park Chapel in Winterset.
