O. D. Silverthorne, 76, who had lived in Webster township since 1870 died at his home March 21 after being bedfast since it January 1932, suffering with neuritis. He was a successful farmer and stock raiser and was well known in both Madison and Adair counties.

Born in Muscatine county August 9, 1858, he came to Madison county when eleven years old. In 1880 he went with his brothers to the Black Hills country in South Dakota, in those days reached only by stage coach.

Services were held Sunday at Wesley Chapel conducted by the Rev. A. R. Weed, pastor of West Star, and the Rev. Zumsteg of the Hebron charge. Burial was in the Hill of Zion Cemetery.
