Death of George Quick

The second of our old and respected citizens to die within a few days was George Quick, who died at his home in this city Monday about noon. Mr. Quick has long been a resident of this county. Until within the past few years, when he moved to town on account of his health, he was one of the substantial farmers of Scott township, where he was universally respected and esteemed.

George Quick was born in Canada, Feb. 25th, 1840. He moved with his parents while young to Illinois. He came to Clinton county, Ia., was united to Miss Abigal Barnes the 17th of September, 1862. To this union were born seven children: three dying in infancy and one at twenty-two years of age.

Mr. Quick had been a great sufferer for many months, yet heroically patient and uncomplaining through it all.

He was converted and united with the Methodist Episcopal church. He always maintained a good hope and faith in Jesus Christ as his Savior.
