Wednesday, May 23, 1973Death of Orson Hildebrand
Orson W. Hildebrand, Sr., life long resident of Madison County who operated a radio and television repair shop in Winterset for many years, died Thursday, May 17, 1973 at Madison County Memorial Hospital. He was 63 years of age.
Born August 21, 1909, Mr. Hildebrand was the son of James Earl Hildebrand and Maude Young Hildebrand. He was married to Ethel May Wright August 21, 1928 in Joplin, Missouri.
Mr. Hildebrand was a member of the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars, having served in the Second World War, stationed in Europe. He was also a member of the Winterset Chamber of Commerce and was affiliated with the First United Methodist Church of Winterset.
Surviving Mr. Hildebrand are his wife, Ethel Hildebrand of Winterset; a daughter, Jean Schirner of Sacramento, California; three sons, John of Neah Bay, Washington, Orson Jr. of Sacramento, California and James of Creston, Iowa and 15 grandchildren.
Also surviving are his mother, Maude M. Hildebrand of Winterset and a twin brother, Orie Hildebrand of Winterset. Mr. Hildebrand was preceded in death by his father.
Funeral services were held Saturday, May 19, 1973 at 1:30 p.m. from Collins Funeral Home with burial at the Winterset Cemetery.
Rev. Newton Coughenour, United Methodist Church of Winterset, officiated.
