J. Clair Boyd, Winterset

Funeral services for J. Clair Boyd, 73, were held Fri., Nov. 30 at First United Church, Winterset, with the Rev. Clarence Lautt and the Rev. Zona Lautt officiating. He died November 27 at Iowa Methodist Medical Center.

Joseph Clair Boyd was born May 25, 1917 in Adair County to Claude and Myrtle Ruth Boyd. He was raised in Madison County. He married Willa Thompson September 2, 1956 in Albert Lea, Minn. Boyd was employed as chief of weights and measures for the Iowa Department of Agriculture, and returned to Winterset in 1988. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Masonic Lodge of Winterset, Az-Ga-Zig Shrine of Des Moines, Northwest Weights and Measures Association and was a former deputy of Madison County.

Mr. Boyd was preceded in death by his parents, a brother and three sisters.

Surviving are his wife of Winterset; a daughter, Ann Killinger of Carson; a brother, Loren Boyd of Lee's Summit, Mo.; and a grandson, Michael Killinger of Guyman, Okla.

Masonic graveside services were held at Winterset Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church.
