RUSSELL HOWELL Funeral This Friday

Last rites for Luther Russell Howell, 82, of Davis, Calif., will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, May 4, at Collins Funeral Home with Rev. Scott Grotewold officiating. Burial will be in the Montpelier Cemetery. Mr. Howell died April 27, 1979 in Fairfield, Calif.

Born on April 18, 1897 in Winterset, he was the son of Lanson and Mary E. Williams Howell. On July 17, 1916, he was married to Mildred Ann Gordon, who preceded him in death, at Omaha, Neb.
In 1925 they moved to Des Moines and from there moved to California in 1942. A farmer, Mr. Howell retired in 1962. He was a member of the Patterson Methodist Church.

He was also preceded in death by his parents, seven brothers, and a twin sister.

Survivors include a son, Gordon Howell of Davis, Calif.; a daughter, Alzina Fuller, also of Davis; a brother Dorwin Howell of Winterset; three grandsons and two great grandsons.
