George H. Mueller, Van Meter

George H. Mueller, 72, of Van Meter, died of cancer Nov. 19, 1996 at Care Center South in Winterset. Memorial services were Nov. 23 at the First United Methodist Church in Winterset. Pastor Jon Gaul officiated the services. The body was cremated.

He was born in Madison County on Sept. 17, 1924 to Ernest William and Georgia Helene (Hunt) Mueller. He was a 1942 graduate of Winterset High School. He was a farmer and a lifelong resident of Madison County, born, raised and living his lifetime on the same farm. He served on the board at Living History Farms; and was a member of the Madison County Historical Society; a past member of the National Cattlemen's Association; Long Horn Association; Short Horn Association; Appaloosa Horse Association; National Farmer's Union; FHA Board and former Soil Conservation Commissioner; and the First United Methodist Church in Winterset.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers; and one sister.

Surviving relatives include two sister, Gretchen M. Casper of Winterset and Etta M. Frink of Yuba City, Calif.; and several nieces and nephews including Robert M. Jr. and John E. Casper, both of Winterset.

Memorial contributions may be directed to the Winterset Educational Foundation or Middle River Hospice.
