Carrie Harrell, Winterset

Carrie Irene Harrell, 89, died Feb. 7, 2003, of complications of a stroke at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, Feb. 11, at Collins Oak Park Chapel in Winterset with the Rev. Bill Branson officiating. Burial was at Winterset Cemetery.

Carrie Harrell was born Sept. 30, 1913, in Madison County to Frank B. and Leota E. (Reynolds) Duff. In 1934 she married Charles "Tuffy" Galen Harrell in Winterset. A lifetime resident of Madison County, Carrie had been a homemaker, babysitter and wallpaper hanger. She had been a member of the V.F.W. Auxiliary.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two sons, Don Harrell and David Harrell, three brothers, Charlie Duff, Earl Duff and John Duff; and five sisters, Gladys Kammin, Lora Hermon, Florence Walker, Dorothy Snores and Pearlie Rankin.

She is survived by three sons, Edgar J. Harrell of Gilmore City, Howard Harrell of Winterset and Larry Harrell of Creston; special niece, Doris Weller of Truro; a sister, Eulah Shearer of Johnston; 13 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.
