James Young, South twp., farmer, Sec. 1; P.O. St. Charles; born in Mercer, now Lawrence, county, Pennsylvania, November 2, 1831; he lived there until coming to this county in the spring of 1856 and located where he now lives; he married Miss Nancy J. Sankey July 6, 1854; she was a native of the same county; they have two sons and four daughters: Cynthia, Frank, King, Bettie, Martha and Blanche; owns 112 acres of land; he enlisted in Co. F, Thirty-ninth Iowa Infantry during the late war, and for the last year and one-half was bass-drummer.
