M. E. White, Sr., Madison twp., farmer, Sec. 24; P.O. DeSoto; owns 155 acres of land; born in the State of Maryland, in 1805; came to Madison county in 1865, and bought his present place; married Miss Mary Winrod; have eight children living and one deceased: John W., Minerva, Michael, Samuel, Wm., Rachel, Kathrina, Mary and Isaha, who was killed in the war of the rebellion, in 1861; was sergeant at the time of his death; he was buried in Fredericktown, Maryland. Mr. White is a member of the M. E. church.
