N. M. Smith, (Dr.), Walnut twp., physician and surgeon; P.O. Peru; born in Morgan county, Illinois, December 20, 1850; came to this county and located in this township in 1853, and was raised here; he studied medicine under Dr. John Green, of Peru; he attended the College of Physicians and Surgeons at Keokuk; has been in practice about six years; he married Miss Laura E. Young, October 8, 1875; she is a native of Wisconsin; have no family.
