J. A. Macomber, is a Lincoln township farmer and stock-raiser living on Section 28, P.O. Winterset. He was born in Gallia county, Ohio, in 1820. He was raised a farmer, and came to this county in 1853. He owns 400 acres of land in a high state of cultivation, and with good improvements. He has held township offices. He married his present wife, Sarah Hartsook, in 1849. She was born in Gallia county, Ohio and has nine children: Andrew, Henry, Alexander, Lindsey, George, John, Edward, Ellsworth and Esther A.
