T. Conard, Lincoln twp., farmer, Sec. 3; P.O. Winterset; born in Northumberland county, Pennsylvania, in 1835; his parents removed to Holmes county, Ohio, when he was very young; came to this county in 1856; owns 130 acres of land; he enlisted in the Thirty-ninth Iowa Infantry in the late war and served three years, and was in actual service all the time and never missed an engagement in which the regiment participated in (there were four brothers in the army); he married Mary J. Bruce in 1867; she was born in Illinois; has three children: Richard, Lizzie and Albert; lost three: Clara Belle, Orlando and William H.
