B. F. Bowlsby, Scott twp.; farmer, Sec. 20; P. O. Winterset; was born in Delaware county, Indiana, September 30, 1839; he was quite young when his parents moved to Dark county, Ohio, where he lived until 1852, he then with his parents came to Iowa and located at Oskaloosa, where they remained until 1854, they then came to this county and located in Winterset; he lived on his present farm since 1856; owns 130 acres; he married Miss Catherine Hyskell June 28, 1860, a native of Indiana county, Pennsylvania; they have five sons and four daughters: Marietta E., Minnie C., Walter H., Clarence C., Orthello E., Frank O., Ada May, Bertha T. and a baby; he was in the army, enlisted in August, 1862, in the 39th Iowa Infantry, in Co A, was in the battles of Parker's
Cross Roads, Allatoona and numerous other skirmishes.
