Jas. W. Guye, Union twp., farmer, Sec. 18; P.O. Winterset; born in Tennessee, September, 1824; his father removed to Indiana in 1828, and lived in that State until 1841, and then emigrated to Missouri, and came to this county May 3, 1846, and are without doubt among the very first settlers of the county; he owns 120 acres of land; has held various township offices, and is at the present time one of the town trustees; he married Miss S. Smith in June, 1850; she was born in Indiana; has five children: Vernesa J., Benjamin L., Samuel H., Calvin W. and Levi H.
