Spanish-Am. Vet Dies in S.F.
One of the last remaining area Spanish-Amercan War veterans—who once trudged through the fever-infested jungles of Cuba—died Wednesday in a Sioux Falls hospital.

Jesse S. Kellihan, 85, Rock Rapids, Iowa, entered the Army in 1898 as a private, heeding the call to avenge the sinking of the USS Maine in Havana Harbor.

Also a veteran of World War I, Mr. Kellihan was discharged in 1918 with the rank of 1st lieutenant.

He was married to the former Frances Sample of Rock Rapids and was a retired postal worker.

Survivors include his widow and one daughter, Mrs. Gerald Munns, also of Rock Rapids.

Funeral services will be there.
