ANDREW NAGLESTAD CENTENNIAL FARMER GAINS RELIEF FROM SUFFERING TROUGH [sic] DEATH

Was Highly Esteemed Christian Gentleman; Sincerly Mourned--

Friends and relatives in large numbers paid their respects to the memory of Andrew Naglestad, highly respected Centennial farmer at his funeral in Our Savior's Lutheran church on Monday. The services were conducted jointly by Pastor Bernhard H. J. Habel and visiting former pastor O. A. Berge.

Interment was had in the cemetery of the north church. In the passing of Andrew Naglestad the community loses an upright Christian gentleman respected and trusted by all who knew him. Following is the obituary as read at the funeral service:

Andrew O. Naglestad was born February 28, 1861 in Winnesheik county near Decorah Iowa, of the parents Ole and Aaselina Naglestad.

At the age of eight years he moved with his parents to a homestead near Inwood, where he grew to manhood, and has resided in Lyon County since with the exceptio [sic] of one year in Sioux City ad [sic] one year in Seattle, Wash.

In 1883 he was united in marriage to Olena Monen. They were blessed with eight children, seven of whom survive him, one dead in infancy. His wife preceded him in death in 1923.

He has been ailing for three years and passed away June 3, 1938 at the age of 77 years, 3 months and 5 days.

Surviving are: Mrs. Gaberial Eiesland, Inwood; Mrs. Harold Eiesland, Harrisburg; Mrs. Emil Farstead, Sioux Falls; Lena, Dena, Obert and Tena, Inwood, all of whom were at his bedside when he passed away.

Also surviving are eighteen grand children and eight grandchildren [sic]; one sister, Mrs. John Snartemo, Minneapolis; two brothers, Ole Garvey, Inwood and Gustav Garvey, Minneapolis.

The Reverend O. A. Berge, Everett, Wash., preached in Norweigan and Rev. B. H. J. Gabel in American.

Mrs. Olaf Sorenson sang "There Is No Night There," before the sermon.

Mrs. Bert Thompson sang a Norweigan song, "Nu Skal Jeg Hoile i mit Hjem."

At the close of the services Mrs. Earl Albertus, Sioux Falls, and Mrs. I Klein, Alvord, Ia., sang "Under His Wings."

Pallbearers were: Simon Severson, Hans Medalen, Andrew Tobiason, Tobias Anderson, Torkel Skejegstad and Chris Le Holman

We wish to express our appreciation to friends and neighbors for their kindness during the sickness and at the time of the death of our father Andrew Naglestad. We wish also to thank the pastors, Rev. B. H. J. Habel and Rev. A. O. Berge and the singers Mrs. Olaf Sorenson, Mrs. Bert Thompson, Mrs. Earl Albertus and Mrs. Ivan Klein.

We are deeply appreciative of the many gifts to missions and the church by friends in honor of our father's memory.
