Mrs Gertie Van Tol passed away Thanksgiving Day at the Sioux Center Community Hospital. She had reached the age of 86 years, 1 month and 22 days. Mrs Van Tol was born in the Netherlands and came to America when she was 16 years old. On February 9, 1900, she was united in marriage to Leendert Van Tol at Sioux Center, IA. To this union the folloing ten children were born: Mrs Della Lems of Doon IA, Gertie (Mrs. Albert Van Bemmel) of Doon IA, Henry of Doon IA, Cornie of Grand Rapids MI, Mynard of Sanborn IA, William of Ripon CA, Helen (Mrs Harry Faber) of Steen MN, Katherine (Mrs Neal Groendyke) of Sanborn IA, Grace (Mrs Ike Steensma) of Luverne MN, and one son who preceded her in death.
Her husband passed away on June 25, 1952.
She is further survived by 28 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren, as well as one brother, Henry Van Roekel, of Sioux Center IA and two sisters, Mrs Henry Kroon of Sioux Center and Mrs Kate Van Roekel of Hawarden IA. Two brothers and one sister preceded her in death.
