MCCONKEY, Alden C. dies 4 Nov 1954 Funeral at Inwood, Ia

Funeral Service Monday for Alden C. MCCONKEY, 84. Former Inwood Plumber Dies in Sioux Falls, Nov. 4.

Funeral services for Alden C. MCCONKEY, 84, retired plumber and former resident of Inwood, who died Nov. 4 in McKennen hosptial in Sioux Falls, were in Inwood Monday afternoon.

Services were held in Bethel Methodist church with the Rev. Gerald WILSON officiating. Duven Funeral service had charge of arrangements. Interment was in Richland cemetery.

Pall bearers at the service were Fingle FOSS, Ole LEE, Peter STOHL, John NELSON, Chester OLSON and Harlan SCHMIDT.

Born in Rochester, N. Y., on December 13, 1869, Alden C. MCCONKEY came to Inwood in about 1916. He engaged in the plumbing and heating business here for nearly 30 years.

His time of residence in Inwood was almost continuous from 1916 until 1947, except for two years he spent in Centerville, Mo., with a son, Robert. About seven years ago he retired from his trade due to failing health. After disposing of his Inwood property, he made his residence in Canton for about five years before going to Sioux Falls to reside with his son.

His wife and an infant son precede him in death.

Surviving are one son, Robert MCCONKEY, 504 Sycamore, Sioux Fass, and a half-brother, Ray SHIVELY in California.

During his years in Inwood he was affiliated with the I.O.O.F Lodge and the Methodist church. End. Inwood Herald [Iowa] 11 Nov 1954. article courtesy R. GIST.
