Biography--

Emma Nagel, age 93, of Alvord, Iowa, died Tuesday, February 14, 2017, at Fellowship Village Nursing Home in Inwood, Iowa.

Memorial service will be 11:00 a.m. Friday February 17, 2017 at Christ Lutheran Church in Alvord with Pastor Corilee Boer officiating. Burial will take place prior to the service at Christ Lutheran Cemetery in Alvord.

Visitation will be Thursday, February 16th from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. with family present from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Jurrens Funeral Home in Rock Rapids, IA.

Emma M. Nagel was born August 31, 1923 in Alvord, IA to Alva and Violet (Jordan) Lape. She was raised and received her education in Alvord. She was united in marriage to Harold Nagel in 1943. To this union three children were born. Emma was a homemaker most of her life but she did spend many years as a cook at West Lyon School. She enjoyed playing bingo, cards with card club and bowling.

She was a very kind hearted person and truly loved children. Her eyes would light up when her grandchildren or great-grandchildren would come to see her. In her later years, she moved to Premier Estates in Rock Rapids before moving to Fellowship Village in Inwood. Emma passed away this past Tuesday at the age of 93. She will be greatly missed.

She is survived by her son, Ken (Arlys) Nagel of Sioux Fall, SD; son, Lynn (Donna) Nagel of Alvord, IA; and daughter, Kathy (Bob) Harmon of Sioux Falls, SD; 12 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; brother, Jerry Lape of Little Rock, AR; nieces, nephews and other extended family members.

Emma was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Harold Nagel/ stepson, Neil Nagel; stepdaughter, Carlyn Jarm; granddaughter, Marcia Christiansen; step grandsons, Dale Nagel, Brian Nagel and Mike Nagel; sisters, Dorothy Bahrenfuss and Cleo Reit; and brother, Junior Lape.
