Sara Doherty, 8, of Howard, S.D., died Thursday, Nov. 4, 2004, at Howard as the result of injuries received in a pickup/pedestrian accident.

Funeral mass was Monday, Nov. 8, at St. Mary Church, Larchwood, with interment in Larchwood Cemetery.

Sara Doherty was born Sept. 24, 1996, at Sioux Valley Hospital, Sioux Falls, S.D., the daughter of Melissa Doherty. She lived in Larchwood and completed kindergarten and first grade at West Lyon Community School. Melissa and Sara moved to Howard in August 2004 where she attended second grade at Howard Elementary School.

Survivors include her mother; her father, Jason Siemonsma of Montrose, S.D.; grandparents, Roy and Sharell Doherty of Larchwood and Lloyd and Sue Siemonsma of Sioux Falls, and great-grandparents, Mary Krejci and Emma Siemonsma, both of Sioux Falls, and Kermit Olsen of Howard.

She was preceded in death by her great-grandparents, Donald "Bud" and Lucile Doherty and Kenneth Krejci.
