Frances Groeneweg Vanden Bosch

September 15, 1925 - October 8, 2016

Inwood, Iowa -- Frances Groeneweg Vanden Bosch, 91, of Inwood, Iowa, formerly from Rock Valley, Iowa, died on Saturday, October 8, 2016 at the Hegg Memorial Hospital in Rock Valley.

A Memorial Service will be 11 am on Wednesday, October 12, 2016 at the Calvin Christian Reformed Church in Rock Valley. Interment Service will be at Valley View Cemetery, leaving the Calvin CRC at 10 am Wednesday. Rev. Gideon Wamala will be officiating. Visitation with the family will be from 6-8 pm on Tuesday at the Calvin CRC. The Porter Funeral Home in Rock Valley is assisting the family. Memorials may be directed to the Western Christian School Building Fund.

Frances was born September 15, 1925 at Rock Valley, Iowa, the daughter of John and Hattie (Vander Sanden) Wissink. Frances married Richard Groeneweg on February 21, 1945. Together they lived one year on a farm NW of Rock Valley then on a farm NE of Rock Valley for 38 years, where Frances worked alongside of Rich, a true farmer’s wife. One of their favorite pastimes was singing and playing the mandolin and guitar. Due to Rich’s poor eyesight, in 1983 they moved to Rock Valley. Richard died on October 2, 2010 after 65 years of marriage.

Frances later married Tom Vanden Bosch on July 13, 2011 and they lived at Aspen Heights in Hull, Iowa and later in the Rock Rapids Health Centre. Tom died on March 31, 2016. Frances then moved to Fellowship Village in Inwood, Iowa.

Frances was a member of Calvin CRC and Faith Circle. She enjoyed gardening and her flowers, reading, quilting and playing Rook. Visits from her children and grandchildren made her day.

Surviving relatives include her children: Richard Jr. (Millie) Groeneweg of Coto De Caza, California, Carol (Ed) Ver Burg of Rock Valley, Sandy (Bill) Van Kley of Sioux Center, Iowa, Bev (Rod) Jacobsma of Doon, Iowa; 15 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and many fondly loved nieces and nephews.

Frances was preceded in death by her parents, John and Hattie Wissink; step-mother, Cornelia Verdoorn Wissink; husbands, Richard Groeneweg and Tom Vanden Bosch; sisters and their spouses, Cornelia (Marinus) Voortman and Dorothy (Tunis) Jansma.
