April 29, 1926 - June 28, 2016

Rock Rapids, Iowa -- Mildred Dickmann age 90 of Rock Rapids, died Tuesday, June 28, 2016 at the Lyon Specialty Care Nursing Home in Rock Rapids.

Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, June 30, 2016 at St. Paul Lutheran Church rural Hull, IA with Pastor Aaron Deutsch officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be prior to the service from 9:30 until 11:00 at the church.

Mildred Dickmann was born on the home place April 29, 1926 near George, IA to Henry and Alice (Brommer) Hansmann. She graduated from George High School and continued her education receiving her teacher’s certificate from Westmar College in LeMars, IA. She taught country school for four years before she met and married Robert Dickmann. The young couple was married on December 31, 1947. They made their home on the family farm from 1947 until 1977.

From 1977 until 2002, Bob and Mildred lived in Rock Rapids and in 2002 they moved to the Colony House Apartments in Hull, IA. She was an avid quilter and enjoyed playing cards. Mildred was very active in her churches, both Immanuel Lutheran in Rock Rapids and St. Paul Lutheran Church in Hull.

She enjoyed gardening and canning and was a wonderful cook. Her family will especially remember her bread and buns. Mildred and Robert spent 20 years wintering in Texas and traveling to various places in the United States to visit family. Her family was very important to her and she enjoyed them very much. This past Tuesday Mildred passed away at Lyon Specialty Care in Rock Rapids at the age of 90. She will be greatly missed.

She is survived by her sons, Darwyn (Donna) Dickmann of Hull, IA and Mark (Ruth) Dickmann of George, IA; daughter, Alana (James) Heinricy of Colman, SD; grandchildren, Justin (Nancy) Dickmann of George and their children Carter, Eli and Harper; Leah Dickmann of College Station, TX and special friend Lonnie Egdorf of Boyden; Ashley (Steven) Pinkerton of Sioux Falls, SD; Darby Dickmann and her son Ashton and special friend Christopher Lloyd of George, IA; Adam Heinricy of Seattle, WA; Kari (Jesse) Bruns and son Kade of Madison, SD; brother, Allen (Betty) Hansmann of George, IA; and many other extended family members.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 59 years, Robert; infant son; infant daughter; brother, Marvin Hansmann; and sister, Mavis Breuer.
