Ruth Pickett, 75, of Luverne, Minn., died Sunday, Oct. 10, 2004, at Mary Jane Brown Good Samaritan Home, Luverne.

Services were Wednesday, Oct. 13, at St. John Lutheran Church, Luverne, with interment in Riverview Cemetery, Rock Rapids.

Ruth Winter was born June 27, 1929, near Rock Rapids, the daughter of John and Anna (Boll) Winter. She grew up and attended school near Rock Rapids, moving to Luverne during high school. After graduating from Luverne High School in 1947, she worked for Tri-State Insurance in Luverne. She then served as manager of Ray's Cafe in Luverne.

On Jan. 19, 1963, she married Franz Pickett in Venice, Fla. They lived in Florida one year, then moved to Luverne where she worked for Montgomery Wards and later at Terrace Park Dairy. In 1976, she began working as the RSVP coordinator in Luverne, retiring in 2001. She became a resident of Mary Jane Brown Good Samaritan Home in 2002.

At St. John Lutheran Church, she sang in the choir.

Survivors include one son, Joel of Brooklyn Park, Minn.; three grandchildren and two sisters, Esther Davenport of Fort Smith, Ark., and Frances Schuett of Rock Rapids.

She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, John, Art and Raymond, and two sisters, Alma Dieren and Florence Schuett.
