FUNERAL NOTICE--

Rock Rapids, Iowa - Janet Kruger, age 50 of Rock Rapids, died Friday, January 8, 2016, at Sanford Hospital in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, following a brief illness.

Funeral service will be 10:30 AM, Thursday, Jan. 14th at Holy Name Catholic Church in Rock Rapids. Visitation will be Wednesday, January 13th from 2:00 to 8:00 PM, with family present from 5:00 to 8:00 PM at Jurrens Funeral Home of Rock Rapids. There will also be a 7:00 PM Vigil service at the funeral home Wednesday evening.

Rock Rapids, Iowa - Janet Kruger, age 50, of Rock Rapids, died Friday, January 8, 2016 at Sanford Hospital in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, following a brief illness.

Funeral service will be 10:30 AM, Thursday, Jan. 14th at Holy Name Catholic Church in Rock Rapids.

Visitation will be Wednesday, Jan. 13th from 2:00 to 8:00 PM, with family present from 5:00 to 8:00 PM at Jurrens Funeral Home of Rock Rapids. There will be a 7:00 PM Vigil service at the funeral home Wednesday evening.

Janet Kay Kruger was born February 28, 1965 in Clarion, Iowa, the daughter of Joseph Francis Steiner and Dorothy Ann (Guptill) Steiner. In her early life, Janet’s family moved to Rock Rapids. She attended Central Lyon schools, graduating in 1983. Following graduation, Janet went to work at K-Products in Rock Rapids.

On October 22, 1983 Janet was united in marriage to Jon P. Kruger at Holy Name Catholic Church in Rock Rapids. Jon and Janet had two girls in the following years. In 1995 Janet underwent a kidney transplant, she took some time off to be at home to recover and raise her girls. She then attended school at NCC in Sheldon. She earned an associate’s degree in accounting then went to work for South Dakota Credit Union Association in Sioux Falls, South Dakota for seven years.

She again decided to go back to school at Colorado Tech University in Sioux Falls, South Dakota where she studied phlebotomy and records and radiology. Janet worked in radiology at Avera-McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, South Dakota for three years and most recently worked at Capital One in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.

Janet enjoyed decorating, cooking and baking, flower gardening and spending time with her family and she loved her many pets. Her grandchildren were her pride and joy. She will be remembered as a vibrant woman with a ready smile who put others first. Also remember her great sense of humor and as a wonderful mom.

Janet is survived by her husband, Jon Phillip of Rock Rapids; two daughters, Kaela Kruger (Levi) and her two children, Trenton, 10, and Danica, 7; and Karissa (Joe) White and their children, Gracelynn, 4, Gage, 2, and Hunter, due to be born Feb. 14; her mother, Dorothy Steiner; and siblings, Pat (Gary) Broesder, Tim (Karen) Steiner, Dee Dee De Boer, Joe Steiner and Paul Cordell; four sisters-in-law, Karen (Jim) O’Gorman, Sandra Kruger, Julie (Ray) Friedland, and Kathie Kruger; and many nieces, nephews and other extended family.

She was preceded in death by her father, Joseph Steiner; brothers-in-law, Jim Kruger and Brent De Boer; father-in-law, Lubertus Kruger; and mother-in-law, Verna Kruger.
