Paul Tille, 80, of Rock Rapids died unexpectedly Tuesday, Aug. 24, 2004, at his home.

Funeral mass was Friday at Holy Name Catholic Church, Rock Rapids, with interment in the church cemetery.

Mr. Tille was born Jan. 8, 1924, in Rock Rapids, the son of Peter and Margaret (Van Wagenen) Tille. He grew up and attended school in Rock Rapids until joining the navy in 1943. After his discharge in 1946, he returned to Rock Rapids and continued his education, graduating from high school in 1947. He was employed at Lyon Rural Electric Cooperative 30 years, working mainly as a lineman. He retired in 1978.

On Nov. 27, 1947, he married Leota Strait. They were later divorced. On Nov. 26, 1985, he married Henrietta "Hank" Tille.

He was a member of American Legion and VFW.

Survivors include his wife; one son, Thomas of Rock Rapids; four daughters, Cathy Van Meeteren of Palmdale, Calif., Mrs. Jim (Pamela) Scheepstra of Worthington, Minn., Mary Kahl of Titusville, Fla., and Mrs. Toby (Annette) Ageson of Rock Rapids, and 10 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Mark; one brother, Francis, and four sisters, Maxine Van Buren, Thelma Booth, Burnedetta Hahn and Sister Burnedetta Kitagawa.
