Rock Rapids, Iowa - Arlo Anna Norma Buckley, age 94 of Rantoul, Illinois, formerly of Rock Rapids, passed away Thursday, June 25, 2015 at Gibson Area Hospital in Gibson, Illinois.

Graveside service will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, August 29th at Riverview Cemetery in Rock Rapids, IA with Rev. Dan Kordahl officiating.

Memorials may be made in her name to a charity of the donor’s choice.

Rock Rapids, Iowa - Arlo Anna Norma Buckley, age 94 of Rantoul, Illinois, and formerly of Rock Rapids, passed away Thursday, June 25, 2015 at Gibson Area Hospital in Gibson, Illinois.

Graveside service will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, August 29th at Riverview Cemetery in Rock Rapids, with Rev. Dan Kordahl officiating.

Memorials may be made in her name to a charity of the donor’s choice.

Arlo Anna Norma Buckley was on born February 7, 1921 in Alvord, Iowa, she was the daughter of William P. and Emma (Lutzen) Moeller. Arlo was a 1939 graduate of Rock Rapids High School. After high school Arlo worked in California and at the Naval Shipyard in Bremerton, Washington, as a radial arm drill press operator. She married Thomas F. “Pat” Buckley on June 13, 1945. He preceded her in death.

After marriage, she and Pat farmed near Alvord, Iowa. In 1953, they moved to Rock Rapids, Iowa. Arlo was also a homemaker for several years, and then owned and operated Jay’s Motel for approximately 10 years. She was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Rock Rapids. Some of her favorite things to do were playing cards, crocheting, quilting, golfing and traveling. Arlo and Pat wintered in Texas for approximately 20 years. After Pat’s death, Texas became
Arlo’s permanent home until 2011.

Arlo is survived by one son, Thomas Buckley of Lawton, Oklahoma; one daughter, Marsha (Dennis) Kaster of Rantoul, Illinois; daughter-in-law Teresa Buckley, Columbus, Nebraska; one foster son, Duane Freese of Hills, Minnesota; one brother, William (Phyllis) Moeller of Denver, Colorado; five grandchildren, Dustin (Tinley) Kaster of Bloomington, Illinois, Karli (Ryan) Slocum of Bountiful, Utah,
Beau (Alysia) Buckley of Wichita, Kansas, Summer Hizar of Lincoln, Nebraska, and Morgan (Michael) Stevens of Lincoln, Nebraska; and eight
great-grandchildren, Gage, Travis, Josci, Skyler, Walker, Deegun, Merritt and Olive.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Pat; a son, James D. Buckley; and a sister, Vera Grau.
