Art Martens, 88, of George died Sunday, July 18, 2004, at the veterans' home in Luverne, Minn.

Services were Thursday at Ebenezer Presbyterian Church, George, with interment in Evergreen Lawn Cemetery.

Mr. Martens was born Nov. 8, 1915, in Lyon County, the son of William and Grace (Damm) Martens.

On Jan. 1, 1941, he married Frances Dilly in Spirit Lake. He served in the army from 1942-1945. He farmed in the George area and drove truck. In 1989, the couple retired and moved into George. He had been a resident of Minnesota Veterans Home in Luverne, Minn., the past several months.

Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Mrs. Kenny (Janice) Koerselman and Mrs. Joel (Marcia) Rosenboom, both of George, and one grandson.

He was preceded in death by one brother, Vern, and one sister, Eva.
