Ervin Monen, 90, of Klondike died Sunday, July 18, 2004, at his home.

Services were Thursday at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, rural Inwood, with interment in the church cemetery.

Mr. Monen was born April 21, 1914, near Larchwood, the son of Peter and Agnes (Severson) Monen. He grew up and attended schools in the Larchwood and Inwood areas.

In June 1934, he married Regina Buckenberg in Inwood. They lived in various locations, including Sioux Falls, S.D., Minneapolis, Minn., Springfield, Mo., and Conway, Ark., before setting in the Klondike area in 1988. He worked in construction and mechanical fields.

His wife died March 5, 1995.

Survivors include four sons, Daryl, Dennis and Dalas, all of Klondike, and David of Parker, S.D.; one daughter, Darlene Monen in Nebraska; 23 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; one daughter, Mariel Dreyer; one granddaughter, LeAnn Mallory; two brothers, Roy and Truman, and two sisters, Adell Lottman and Geneva Monen.
