Inwood, Iowa - Britton Nicole McCarty, 10 weeks and 2 days, died Friday, April 24, 2015 at the Canton-Inwood Hospital in Canton, South Dakota.

Visitation with the family present will be 2-4 p.m., Sunday, April 26, 2015 at Porter Funeral Home in Inwood, Iowa. Funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m., Monday, April 27, 2015 at First Reformed Church in Inwood with Rev. Rob Horstman officiating. Burial will follow at the Richland Cemetery. Britton Nicole McCarty was born on February 4, 2015, in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, to Daniel and Nikki (Hassebroek) McCarty. She has four older brothers: Mason, Jacob, Gabriel, and Elijah and an older twin sister, Berklee. Britton was in the NICU for four days. She showed incredible toughness while there and came home only one day after her sister. Britton loved to cuddle but also was a little “diva.” She slept often, but when she woke up your attention was immediately needed.

Britton was completely opposite of her sister. She had blonde hair, bigger feet, and always had to hold onto Berklee. While Berklee was in the hospital for 13 days, Britton was lost and missed her little “cuddler.” So loving!

God is so good to have given us 10 weeks and 2 days with this little angel. She will be deeply missed. Until we meet again, we are holding onto His promises.

Britton is survived by her parents and siblings, Daniel and Nikki and siblings, Mason, Jacob, Gabriel, Elijah, and Berklee all of Inwood; grandparents, Linda Clercx of Larchwood, Iowa, and Allen and Barb Hassebroek of Inwood; great-grandmas, Jean Jacobson of Spencer, Iowa and Ann Halma of Inwood; Nikki’s siblings: Alise Hassebroek of Inwood, Natalie (Austin) Bohlke of Inwood, and Beau Hassebroek of Aberdeen, South Dakota; Daniel’s siblings: Todd McCarty of Council Bluffs, Iowa, Jamie Schumann of Still Water, Oklahoma, Chad Schumann and Neil Schumann both of Phoenix, Arizona, Matt McCarty of Orange City, Iowa, Angie Moertl of Council Bluffs, Iowa, Julie Ballou of Minnesota, and Patricia Bloemendaal of Rock Rapids, Iowa; and many cousins.

She was preceded in death by her grandpa, Mike McCarty; great-grandparents, George Halma, Oran and Phyllis Hassebroek, Tom and Agnes McCarty, and Curt Jacobson; great-uncles, Gary Halma, Paul Van Ningen, and Vernon Dornsbach; and cousins, Philip Hassebroek, Jill Hassebroek, and Ethan Schact.
