Gordon Lyle Waagmeester – January 29, 1929 – November 16, 1992

Funeral services for Gordon Lyle Waagmeester, 63, of Rock Rapids were held Friday at United Methodist Church, Rock Rapids, with interment in Riverview Cemetery..

He died Monday, November 16, 1992, at Prairie Estates Nursing Home, Elk Point, South Dakota..
Mr. Waagmeester was born January 29, 1929, in Larchwood. He grew up and attended school in Larchwood..

On January 30, 1949, he married June Stewart in Rock Rapids. He operated a Mobil Station for many years. He was also a school bus driver and school bus mechanic-supervisor. For 10 years, he was a partner in Rock Rapids Ford. In 1990 he became a resident of the Rock Rapids Health Centre and in the spring of 1992 he moved to Prairie Estates Nursing Home..

He was a member of United Methodist Church and also served on the board of the United Federal Savings Bank..

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Jerry of McCook Lake, South Dakota, and Jim of Rock Rapids; three daughters, Mrs. Ray (Julie) Heaton of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Mrs. Dan (Lori) Kahl of Rock Rapids and Melinda Waagmeester of McCook Lake; three grandchildren; two brothers, Merle of Rock Rapids and Robert of Baltic, South Dakota, and one sister, Mrs. Wayne (Beverly) Wilke of Lester.
