Biography--

Rock Rapids, Iowa - Jane DeBoer age 80 of Steen, MN died Sunday, December 28, 2014, at the Rock Rapids Health Centre in Rock Rapids, IA.

Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, January 5, 2015 at Steen Reformed Church in Steen, MN, with Reverend Dan Kuik officiating. Burial will follow at the Eastside Cemetery rural Steen, MN.

Visitation will be Saturday, January 3rd from 3:00 to 8:00 p.m. with family present from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Jurrens Funeral Home in Rock Rapids, IA.

Jane Dorothy DeBoer was born on December 30, 1933, the daughter of William and Alice (Van Dyk) Jansma in North Long Beach, California. She grew up in the Ireton, Iowa, and Ash Creek, Minnesota areas. She attended Sioux County Country School in the Ireton and Rock County #1 Country School in the Ash Creek, Minnesota. On August 14, 1953, Jane was united in marriage to Peter J. DeBoer in Ellsworth, Minnesota. They lived near the Ellsworth, Minnesota area from 1953 to 1970, by Rock Rapids, Iowa, from 1970 to 2001 and in the city of Steen, Minnesota from 2001 to 2014. Jane worked as a Dietary Aid at the Merrill Pioneer Hospital (now Sanford Hospital of Rock Rapids). She was a member of the Steen Reformed Church. She enjoyed cooking, baking cookies, scrapbooking, embroidery and quilting.

Jane is survived by her husband of sixty-one years, Peter J. DeBoer of Steen, Minnesota; two daughters: Jolene (Richard) VanDenBrink of Rock Rapids, Iowa and Patricia (Todd) Loger of Rock Rapids, Iowa; daughter-in-law, Diane DeBoer of Rock Rapids, Iowa; six grandchildren: Joel (Melanie) VanDenBrink of Rock Valley, Iowa; Joni (Randy) Ymker of Rock Valley, Iowa; Benjamin DeBoer(special friend Kristi Oeding) of St. Louis, Missouri; Adam (Kelly) DeBoer of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; TJ Loger and Trent Loger (special friend Sadie Knobloch) of Steen, Minnesota; and five great-grandchildren; one brother, William (Harriet) Jansma of Ellsworth, Minnesota; two sisters-in-law, Wilmyna Jansma of Hull, Iowa and Berniece (Noralf) Barstad of Brandon South Dakota; and many nieces, nephews and other extended family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her son, Brent DeBoer; two brothers, Tunis Jansma and Bart Jansma; sister and brother-in-law: Gertrude and James DeBoer.
