Biography--

Sibley, Iowa - Darlene Peters age 85 of Little Rock, Iowa, died Saturday, January 3, 2015, at the Osceola Community Hospital in Sibley.

Funeral service will be 1:00 p.m. Friday, January 9th, 2015 at the Salem Reformed Church in Little Rock with Rev. LeRoy Christoffels officiating.
Burial will follow in the Pleasant View Cemetery in Little Rock, Iowa.

Visitation will be Thursday, January 8th from 4-8 p.m. with the family present from 6-8 p.m. at Salem Reformed Church in Little Rock.

Sibley, Iowa - Darlene Peters age 85 of Little Rock, Iowa, died Saturday January 3, 2015 at the Osceola Community Hospital in Sibley, Iowa.

Funeral service will be 1:00 p.m. Friday, January 9th, 2015 at the Salem Reformed Church in Little Rock with Rev. LeRoy Christoffels officiating. Burial will follow in the Pleasant View Cemetery in Little Rock, Iowa.

Visitation will be Thursday, January 8th from 4-8 p.m. with the family present from 6-8 p.m. at Salem Reformed Church in Little Rock.

Darlene M. Peters was born March 27, 1929 at Adrian, Minnesota the daughter of Harm and Janette (Tirrell) Schroeder. She lived on a farm by Adrian, Minnesota until she was three years old and then they moved to Little Rock. Darlene attended school at Little Rock and graduated in 1947. She worked at Siebring Grocery store in Little Rock, Union Camp and Country View Manor in Sibley, Iowa.

Darlene married Kenneth G. Jans on March 25, 1953. He entered the VA Hospital in August of 1981 and passed away October 6, 1982.

She was a member of Salem Reform Church in Little Rock which she attended all of her life and she was a member of Willing Workers.

She married Jack Peters on February 20, 1988. They farmed for ten years at Adrian, Minnesota and then moved to Little Rock.

She enjoyed reading books, crocheting, knitting, and doing crossword puzzles along with attending her grandchildren’s sports activities. She loved spending summer afternoons at the lake with family and always looked forward to going south for the winters.

Darlene leaves to cherish her memories her son, Jerry (Donna) Jans of Hawarden, IA; step-daughter, Marcia (Paul) Leemkuil of Mt. Ida, AR; step-son, Merrill (Lisa) Peters of Adrian, MN; step-daughter, Vickie (Ted) Jenniges of Ellsworth, MN; and step-son, Doug (Ruth) Peters of Wentworth, SD; Six grandchildren, Cody Jans (Fiance Neena), Caitlin (Blake) Hoogland, Tricia Jans, Shandra (Matt) Meier, Joseph Jans, Jeremiah Jans (Fiance Lexie); Seventeen step-grandchildren, Tamar Leemkuil, Nathan (Stacy) Leemkuil, Matthew Leemkuil (Fiance Kailey), Bridget (Steve) Hinrichs, Natalie (Glenn) Hieronimus, Josh (Melissa) Peters, Stacie (Bill) VerSteeg, Kassidy and Kayla Peters, Tom (Lindsay) Jenniges, Janelle Jenniges, Travis (Marla) Jenniges, Tyler Jenniges and Jared, Nichole, Jason and Justin Peters; Nine and a half great-grandchildren; Sixteen step-great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, and other extended family members.

She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Kevin Jans; second husband, Jack Peters; first husband, Kenneth Jans; brother, John Schroeder; sister, Angeline Christians.
