Gertrude Kannegieter, 85, of George died Monday, June 7, 2004, at Country View Manor, Sibley.

Memorial services were Friday at Lyon County First Presbyterian Church, George, with interment in Evergreen Lawn Cemetery.

Gertrude Buss was born Jan. 6, 1919, near Little Rock, the daughter of John and Bena (Schultz) Buss. She grew up and attended school at Little Rock.

On Sept. 5, 1939, she married Henry Kannegieter.

They farmed near Rushmore, Minn., three years before moving to a farm near Little Rock. In 1965, they moved to George where they farmed 13 years. In 1978, they retired and moved into George.

Her husband died in 1996.

At Lyon County First Presbyterian Church, she was a member of Dorcas Society.

Survivors include one son, Harlan of Gillette, Wyo.; two daughters, Mrs. Larry (Sandra) Ericsson of Norwalk and Mrs. Loren (Janie) Jacobsma of Little Rock; six grandsons; seven great-grandchildren and three sisters, Vera Markus of Adrian, Minn., Emma Kruse of Rock Rapids and Lydia Tjepkes of George.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, three brothers and four sisters.
